From October 3-5, 2016, the College of Education hosted the 6th National Tri-Level Conference of Teachers and Educators with the theme “Teacher Quality at the Heart of Education Reforms and Movements,” at the Century Park Hotel and University of Santo Tomas. Participants of the conference were administrators and educators from the basic and tertiary levels.
Heading the roster of speakers was Prof. Tan Liang See, PhD, Assistant Dean for School Partnerships of the Office of Education Research, National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
The conference included talks on student motivation by Asst. Prof. Ronnel Bornasal King, Ph.D. of the Education University of Hongkong, China; international teaching practicum by Prof. Hairul Nizam Ismail, Ph.D. of Universiti Sains Malaysia; internationalization by Prof. Anne Moran, DPhil of St. Mary’s University – Twickenham, London, United Kingdom; mentoring by Prof. Jian Wang, Ph.D. of Texas Tech University, Texas, United States of America; instructional technology by Prof. Susan D’Aloia, Ph.D. of Blackboard, Singapore.
Paper presentations and seminar-workshops on areas such as teacher education, social sciences, humanities, natural and applied sciences, health sciences, and basic education by Metrobank Outstanding Teachers and education practitioners. The conference had three strands: Teacher Quality Measure, Teacher Quality Pressure, and Teacher Quality Treasure.
The conference also showcased an exhibit on the metaphors of the 21st-century teacher and Likhang Bayan: Pabalat, at the Century Park Hotel. The opening ceremonies were presided over by Metrobank Foundation President Aniceto M. Sobrepeña and UST Vice-Rector Fr. Richard G. Ang, O.P., PhD.
The conference was conducted in partnership with the Metrobank Foundation Network of Outstanding Teachers and Educators (NOTED), in celebration of the National Teachers Month and World Teachers Day.
