Education Culminates College Fortnight with a Faculty and Student Recognition

   The College of Education recognized its faculty and student achievers during the 2nd Bilib sa Eduk Awards (BEA) at the UST Medicine Auditorium. The event was held on April 27, 2017 with Filipino professors Assoc. Prof. Zendel Taruc, Ph.D. and Assoc. Prof. Arthur Casanova, Ph.D. as hosts.

   The chairperson of the BEA Organizing Committee, Ms. Pamela dela Cruz, conveyed the aim of this year’s awards which is to acknowledge students for their academic achievements and faculty members for their service to the College of Education and their achievements in the areas of instruction, research and community              engagement. The recognition day is a good way to inspire and                motivate other teachers and students to strive for excellence.

   The President of the Thomasian Alumni Leaders Association, Mr Henry Tenedero, in his inspirational message, stated that what defines a person is his/her character. He shared how he rose above his failures and became successful. He added that his failures allowed him to see the beauty of life.

   One of the highlights of this year’s BEA awards was the tribute given to professors who were set to retire. Expressions of love and gratitude filled the air as the College of Education recognized the contributions and service of Prof. Jose Dakila Espiritu (Teacher Education); Prof. Rhodelia Mendoza (Filipino); and; Asst. Prof. Cristina Sagum (Nutrition and Dietetics).One of the highlights of this year’s BEA awards was the tribute given to professors who were set to retire.    The College Fortnight was a success. Education Dean Prof. Allan de Guzman was pleased to announce that for the AY 2016-2017 alone, the College of Education has organized three (3) international conferences and more than ten (10) colloquies with thirty-four international speakers from across the globe.
